Yes, hail can be a problem. We're on the edge of the area that gets the bad stuff, but it can still happen. The farther north you go the worse it gets, with grapefruit-size hail not too unusual.
Fortunately I got my plane pre-hailed (it already has some hail damage on the wings), so only the big stuff would be a concern and that is less common around these parts here.
Hey, don't they put dimples on golf balls to make them fly faster? If I get big hail, the insurance will likely end up taking the plane. Not optimum, but I haven't found a decent hangar yet. Waiting lists are long around here, and hangars are $300-$600/month compared to $400/YR tie-down where I'm at.
